So, you've finally realized that the iPhone 4 may not be the only phone worth your while and you're thinking of going with the Samsung Galaxy S after all. Well, before you dig deep into your pockets, here's a side by side comparison of the two leading mobile phones today: the Samsung Galaxy S vs. iPhone 4
Design
The Samsung Galaxy S is definitely bigger with its massive 4 inch screen compared with the iPhone 4's 3.5 inch screen. However, bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. The Samsung Galaxy S has a 480 x 800 pixel resolution while the iPhone 4 has 640 x 960 resolution. What it means? Well, unless you're using your phone under a microscope or you're nearsighted, it means you won't see as much pixelation on fonts or pictures. But it doesn't mean that the difference is negligble, when put side by side, you could easily see that the iPhone 4 has a crisper screen resolution.
As for the design quality, the iPhone 4 is made of something like a glass composite materials which actually adds to its weight making the iPhone 4 a bit heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S, weighing in at 137 grams compared to the Galaxy S which only weighs 119 grams. In my opinion, the iPhone 4 actually looks sexier compared with the Galaxy S.
So I guess the design goes to the iPhone 4 because it's just more pocket friendly and offers on hand ease of use compared with the massive Galaxy S.
User Interface
The Samsung Galaxy S runs Android OS while the iPhone 4 has iOS 4.0. Both OS offers fluid scrolling and are very responsive. However, I have to give the user interface to Samsung Galaxy S. It just offers much more customization compared with the iPhone 4. On the Galaxy S, you're given different homescreens where you can put widgets to, its very similar to HTC's Sense on their Android phones.
Multimedia
When it comes to watching videos and listening to music, Apple has it down to a Science so there's no arguing that the iPhone 4 is the better multimedia device. The screen resolution alone is SO much better for watching videos and the built in iPod software has been unrivaled. However, it's good to note that the Samsung Galaxy S offers DivX compatibility right off the bat. So for those who're fond of downloading DivX videos, they might lean towards the Galaxy S more as they don't have to be burdened with converting their videos.
Camera and Video Quality
Now here's where there's a bit of a mixed bag. Since I'm not really a camera expert, I would refer you to GSMArena's image and video comparison of the iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S. Outright, it seems that the iPhone 4 has the better image quality compared with the Samsung Galaxy S but when it comes to video quality, your choice would have to depend on whether you want to have the option of setting the video resolution to HD or VGA. The Samsung Galaxy S has that option while the iPhone 4 doesn't.
But in this regard, both mobile phones are evenly matched with the iPhone 4 slightly tipping the scales.
Web Browser, Connectivity
Now as for the web browser, both Safari and the Android browser are two of the best web browsers on a mobile phone you can find today. Both renders web pages very fast and scrolling is very smooth. Now the deal breaker may be down to whether you want flash or not. Apple has forever closed its doors on Flash for the iPhone while the Galaxy S, although it doesn't support Flash outright, will have the option to do so in the near future.
As for connectivity, both mobile phones supports WiFi b/g/n but Samsung added DLNA compatibility to the Galaxy S. So if you have a WiFi equipped TV, you can easily stream media from your phone to your home TV.
Both phones also have GPS but the iPhone 4 has a lot of turn by turn navigation available on the App store while the Android market is lacking on that part, at least as far as I know.
Games and Applications
As you know, the iPhone 4 has the largest selection of mobile applications, with over 100,000 apps and games in the App store. Android, though it doesn't have such an extensive collection is close behind, reaching around 80,000 apps but the best part is, most of those apps are free on the Android market. You really can't lose whatever phone you choose because developers are now making their most popular iPhone apps available for the Android market as well and if you can't find the exact same app on the Android market, there are plenty of free alternatives available.
Conclusion
It's hard to put the clear winner here. Both mobile phones have their advantages and as for disadvantage, the most glaring on the iPhone's part is its antennae issue although most people would say that its negligible. I for one, is still on the waiting list for the iPhone 4 so I may have made my choice but if you really don't care for Apple that much, then the Samsung Galaxy S is not a bad choice.

iPhone 4 signal problems: 3 quick fixes
So, the fact that the US Consumer Reports have reported it means that the iPhone 4 signal issues is more rampant than some of you thought. If you visit iPhone forums, you'll encounter some user who have experienced signal problems when they hold the iPhone 4 on the bottom left side. So here's some quick fixes.
Buy A Bumper
Sure, £20 is a lot to spend on an iPhone 4 bumper but a lot of people have reported to have minimized if not completely erradicate the signal issue when they put on the bumper.
Duct Tape it
If you don't have £20 to spend, the cheaper alternative is to put a duct tape over the problem area. Yep, I'm sure many of us have some duct tape lying around and though the look would clash with your shiny new iPhone, at least you won't get any signal problems.
Practice Being Right Handed
Or if you don't want to spend single cent any more after spending all your dough on a new iPhone, do what Steve Jobs said and just hold it the "right way". For left-handed people, that means being ambidextrous, at least when it comes to your iPhone 4.
Wait for the White iPhone 4 or for a permanent fix
For those who haven't jumped the iPhone 4 bandwagon because of this issue, it would either come to two choices: Wait for the white iPhone 4 and hope that it won't get the same problem or wait for Apple to release a more permanent fix through a software update which some bloggers say is unlikely since it is a hardware problem and not a software issue.

When will we see an iPhone 4 unlock and jailbreak?
There's been a lot of buzz lately of how the original iPhone hacker, Geohot had jailbroken the iPhone 4 but the bad news is, he's not releasing it. A few days back, there's also been news that there's actually a jailbreak for the iPhone 4 by some people at the Dev Team but they're deferring release until the next iPhone update to make sure that the jailbreak is not patched by Apple.
With all these news about jailbreak for the iPhone 4, it won't be impossible to see an unlock for the iPhone 4 follow suit. Although here in UK, we're blessed to have unlocked iPhone 4s for sale, it's still nice if you have a carrier bought iPhone and have the freedom to use any sim with it.
So, before you splurge your money on some iPhone 4 unlock website, hold on to it because you might get scammed. If you wait until the end of July or early August, I'm sure we'll be able to see a free jailbreak and unlock method for the iPhone 4 from the Dev Team.

Alternatives to the iPhone 4
Okay so this iPhone 4 stock waiting game is getting ridiculous. For those of you who think the iPhone 4 is overrated and are looking for alternatives, here are some decent mobile phones that you might fancy.
Sony Ericsson Vivaz
The Sony Ericsson Vivaz is not so much as a smartphone like the iPhone 4 but it has an 8 megapixel camera and can do 720p video recording so if you're thinking of getting the iPhone 4 just for its camera and video, you can save yourself time and money by getting the Sony Ericsson Vivaz. The downside? The applications available for the Sony Ericsson Vivaz isn't as sophisticated as those on the Apple app store but there are a lot of java games available for it, and some of them free.
HTC Desire
Like the iPhone 4, the HTC Desire is a smartphone and runs the Android OS. The phone has the same smooth transitions like the iPhone and can even do multi touch. The browser can evenly compete the the Safari browser on the iPhone 4 and best of all, it supports flash. Like the iPhone, Android OS has an app store though not as many as the Apple's 100,000 plus apps but still, it's growing and most apps are free on the Android marketplace. Most stores carry the HTC Desire unlock, even Amazon has the HTC Desire and carriers like Vodafone, Orange, and T-Mobile has this on contract as well so you can be sure that it's not out of stock. The downside? It currently doesn't have 720p video recording capability like the iPhone 4 but rumors have it that a software update in the future will make this feature available. You can read my HTC Desire Review for more info.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
Like the HTC Desire, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 also sports the Android OS although a very old version of it. Though it has an old version of Android, there are still a lot of apps available for it on the Android marketplace and it has a large 4 inch screen and also somewhat thin and stylish like the iPhone. The good news is that it has a bigger camera resolution at 8 megapixels though it doesn't support 720p video recording. The bad news? It doesn't have multitouch and the browser is not as good as the one on the HTC Desire. Check My Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Review for more info.
Samsung Galaxy S
Right now, this Android phone is the closest competitor to the iPhone 4. Like the X10 and the HTC Desire, it sports a 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM so it's fast and snappy. It has Samsung's latest Super AMOLED screen which somehow competes with the iPhone 4's retina display. Another similar feature to the iPhone 4 is the 720p video recording capability of the Samsung Galaxy S plus its 5 megapixel camera. A bonus feature is that it can playback 720p DivX and Xvid videos, a feature that is lacking on the iPhone 4, HTC Desire and Xperia X10. The downside? The massive 4 inch screen makes this a bit larger and bulky than the iPhone 4.

White iPhone 4 Coming late July?
So if you're resigned to the fact that you have to wait for 3 weeks before you can get your hands on the iPhone 4, then better wait it out a few more weeks if you want an iPhone 4. Initially, the white iPhone 4 was not available during the pre-order stage because according to Apple's statements, "it proved a bit difficult to manufacture". And according to the same statement by Apple, the white iPhone 4 will be available during the 2nd half of July.
That was said during the pre-order stage of the iPhone 4 and before all the stock issues so whether the white iPhone 4 will ever see light come the second half of July, is all up to Apple. Let's just hope that the stock issues of the black iPhone won't affect the manufacturing of the white iPhone 4, for those who're still waiting for the white model.

O2 iPhone Stock
So, the iPhone is still unavailable and has a 3 week waiting time at any Apple Store, Orange doesn't have it in stock and so does Vodafone. O2, the original exclusive carrier of the iPhone 3G, seems the only carrier to have it in stock, at least, that's what their online stock finder says.

HTC Legend USB Drivers
So, you've probably seen my HTC Legend Review I posted a few days back. Unlike my other reviews, I wasn't able to post some screenshots because I was having a hard time installing USB drivers for the HTC Legend. Well, I downloaded the latest USB drivers from the Android website through Android SDK (you need this software to take screenshots on your HTC Legend).
Even though it was the latest drivers, my Windows XP still can't recognize the HTC Legend so I did some searching and came upon this site.
In order for the HTC Legend to be recognized by the Android SDK, open the android_winusb.inf file under the usb_driver folder and add

Samsung Monte Review
So, we have another mobile phone to review: the Samsung Monte S5620. Now Samsung has a lot of feature phones out in the market, there's the semi-low end Samsung CorbyPro, the mid-range Samsung Jet Ultra, and a pletora of low-end touchscreen mobile phones. SO where does the Samsung Monte fit in? It's somewhere between the Samsung Genio Slide and the Ultra Jet. Let's see how it stacks up against it brothers.

New Orange Mobile Phones in April
Whether it's time for an upgrade or you're just tired of your phone provider and you're thinking of switching to Orange, well now's the best time because Orange has some new mobile phones in its portfolio.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, HTC Desire, Sony Ericsson Vivaz, Samsung Monte, and Sony Ericsson Elm are the newest addition to Orange's contract mobile phone plans. Sorry, these mobile phones are not yet available on Orange PAYG but I'll watch their page once in a while as they might turn up on PAYG especially the Sony Ericsson Elm and Samsung Monte. In my experience, mobile phones which are offered for free on the cheapest monthly contract plans are usually the first to be offered on PAYG.
Also something to watch out for is the Samsung Wave, Samsung first mobile phone with their own Bada OS. This will probably be available on Orange come June.

Today We Celebrate Frida Kahlo Biography
Today we celebrate the 103rd birthday of Frida Kahlo, our giant search engine Google kicked off the off her online birthday party with one of its specialty logos, and a special Google Doodle in memory of Frida Kahlo. Most of the painters work depicts Frida Kahlo amid a fantastical setting. Lush vines snake through the scene, twisting around the Google company banner.
Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907 in the house of her parents, known as La Casa Azul in Coyoacan. At the time, it was a small town on the outskirts of Mexico City.As a young artist, Frida Kahlo approached the Mexican painter, Diego Rivera, whose work she admired, asking him for advice about pursuing art as a career. He recognized her talent and her unique expression as truly special and uniquely Mexican, he encouraged her artistic development and began an intimate relationship with Frida. They were married in 1929, despite the disapproval of Frida mother.

Learning The Lingo Of 4G Technology
The world of computer technology moves so fast that for people who don’t have a degree in computer sciences it can be difficult to keep up. You might hear about some of the new computer and Internet technology out there, but can you really say that you understand what it is or how it works? Well, there is one new development in the Internet world that you do want to stay informed about, and that is the 4G network. This article will help to explain the 4G network and some of the terminology that comes along with it in simple terms that everyone can understand.
What is 4G?
4G literally stands for fourth generation. You have probably heard a lot about the 3G network from commercials about iPhones and Blackberries. 3G is the predecessor of the 4G network. If you have one of these 3G devices, or you know someone who has one, you know that you can log into the Internet almost anywhere that you receive a wireless signal. The great thing about the 4G network is that it is designed to also be used with regular computers. This means that if you have a 4G mobile modem, you can log into the Internet on a 4G network from almost anywhere. It is also up to four times faster than the 3G network. With a regular computer and the extra speed of 4G, you can do all of the things that you weren’t able to do with 3G, like download large files, watch videos, or download music.
Mobile Broadband
Mobile broadband is the general term for the different kinds of wireless high-speed Internet that transmit signals through some type of portable device. This could be a portable modem, a telephone, or some other type of piece of equipment.
WiMAX
This is a term that you will hear used when it comes to the 4G network. WiMAX is technology that allows you to transmit data wireless. It was developed as another alternative to cable and DSL Internet and is a mobile wireless Internet.
Mobile Air Card
This is an important one. An air card is the device that you use to connect to the Internet. You might be more familiar with the term “modem.” This air card, or portable modem, is what you use to connect to the Internet with your laptop. You plug the device into the USB port on your laptop. Mobile air cards are very small, not like the traditional modem that you are probably imagining. The size is similar to a small USB memory stick. It’s smaller than a pack of Big Red chewing gum. This makes it very convenient to bring with you.
Hopefully this article has helped you to better understand the new exciting world of 4G technology. The most important thing to remember about 4G is that it

Top iPhone Applications for Productivity
The applications for the iPhone fall in a number of categories. Since there are so many of them they need to be organized to be able to search them effectively. They vary in price and functionality but the following are the best productivity applications that all iPhone users should at least try out sometime while owning an iPhone.
The first is the free application of EverNote. It is a small little application that allows people to collect and keep small notes in one location for easy access. It is more than just a normal post it note like application since notes can be compiled in a few different formats. Text notes can be added along with quick pictures which may need to be recalled at a whim. Voice notes are also available to be recorded and one factor that is even cooler is that the application has the function built in to search for text through pictures by character recognition. This makes it useful if needing to read signs or anything else in a photo. It’s definitely something all users should get especially since it is free.
Another useful application, although not free, is Pocket Informant. It is an application that combines the functions of a to-do list and a calendar into one convenient place. This allows users to keep their appointments and dates in order. It also supports synchronizing so that the application can upload the data to Google Calendar in order to keep the computer and iPhone synchronized together. You should never miss an appointment this way.
iTranslate is an application that not all people need but it may come in handy at times when you may not even expect to need to know a foreign language. There is no harm in trying it out though because it is completely free. It links up directly to Google to translate any text that you need immediately. There are translations for the common languages such as French and Spanish and even some of the more rare occurrences such as Latvian. No automated translators are perfect but it is better than nothing when you really are in a pinch to know a translation.
Individuals who are fans of lists will want to try out the free application of WhatTasksLite. This quick and simple to-do application allows your to-do list to be split into categories to keep your life organized. Some groups users may wish to split include work, personal, or even school. Priority levels can also be noted. Sometimes simplicity is the way to ensure that the application actually gets used instead of sitting dormant on your iPhone.
Google Voice isn’t an application but is something that should definitely be used by all iPhone owners. It is also completely free. This really helps for calls because international calls can be conducted at low rates and unlimited text messages are able to be sent. All voicemails can be browsed through Google Voice as well. It is possible to use Google Voice just like you would any other application.

Verizon to launch 4G on Nov. 15, phones Nov. 26?
Verizon’s very early 4G plans may have surfaced tonight. Apple iPhone 4G Contracts ? Outstanding is an Understatement
The stage is set and the public is ready, Apple’s latest mobile, the iPhone 4G is all set to release on 24th of June and it already has millions fawning over it. Apple has addressed most of the issues that plagued the previous iPhones by upgrading the software and hardware of iPhone 4G to an extent where comparing the 4G with its older brothers and sisters would hardly be fair.
The resolution of the 3.5 inches wide TFT capacitive touchscreen has been bumped up to 640 x 960 pixels, four times that of 3G. Feature wise, the display screen sees the addition of a 3-axis gyro sensor and a scratch resistant surface to the already existing multi-touch, auto turn off and accelerometer. Thanks to the new operating system, users will now be able to multi task, something that existing iPhone users have been missing out on. Apple also plans to make eBooks available to all iPhone 4G users. This application will allow users to purchase and download novels from Apple’s online store and then read them on their iPhone.
The camera of the phone has also seen an upgrade, iPhone 4G now features a 5 mega pixel camera, which, with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels will allow users to take pictures with crystal clear clarity. It will also have features like autofocus, LED flash, touch focus and Geo-tagging. Apple has also foregone the traditional Sim Card and opted to have a microSIM. With the reduction of the SIM card, the phone now has more space, which has been optimally utilized by increasing the battery size. The battery now has a talk time of Up to 14 h (2G) / Up to 7 h (3G) and can stay on standby for Up to 300 hrs on both 2G and 3G networks
Attractive Apple iPhone 4G deals will be available from all major service providers including Vodafone, O2, Orange, Virgin, Tmobile and Virgin. Interested parties will be able to purchase this handset simply by logging on to any of the online mobile sites and going through the extensive lists. Viewers will be able to compare different deals and make an informed buying decision. These deals are updated on a regular basis and several free gifts are also offered. Expensive electronic gadgets like 32 inch and 42 inch LCD TVs, Laptops, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii can be gotten as free gifts upon the purchase of an Apple iPhone 4G contract.

Google Me Ready To Challenge FaceBook !?
After the apparent failure of Buzz, several studies have demonstrated little impact among users, the Internet giant may be finalizing the launch of what has been described as the next social network to compete with Facebook.
The new invention called Google Me, and it is an initiative with which the Mountain View company promises to expand its existing user accounts to an area similar to a social network like the one founded by Mark Zuckerberg. According to various media, the rumor about the possible launch has spread through a “tweet” the creator of Digg, Kevin Rose, who not long ago starred in a big controversy because of his popular reference site.
Before confirming the rumors that some analysts and industry experts wonder whether this new social tool that Google might be preparing a scenario would place full of digital social networks and dominated by Facebook with more than 500 million users around the world. Not to mention, of course, that the Californian company has similar products such as Buzz or Wave, who do not think he has taken all the return expected and which is still unknown whether it would have continuity.Popularity: 1%June 29, 2010 -- Google stop automatically redirect traffic from China to Hong Kong (0)June 24, 2010 -- Droid is here to take on iPhone 4 (0)June 24, 2010 -- “Twilight” Fans Ready up for “Eclipse” Premiere (0)June 21, 2010 -- Rapper The Game IS NOT DEAD! Google stop automatically redirect traffic from China to Hong Kong
The fight between the Chinese government and Google continues. The internet giant has announced that it stops automatically redirect traffic from China to Hong Kong. In this way Google will cease to censor its search services in China.
The dispute began in January this year when Google refused to censor its results in Google.cn after accusing China of orchestrating a cyber attack on their servers. Under threat of losing its license to offer content, Google finally decided to redirect users to your page in Hong Kong, a trait which has so far gone unpunished to the Chinese government.
The license for Google to provide Internet content services in China is subject to renewal, and government authorities have made clear that the automatic redirection to Google in Hong Kong is no longer acceptable . What is the Google solution? Rather than redirect users directly to Google.com.hk Google.cn, Chinese page simply bind to its namesake in Hong Kong, allowing users to search without censorship.
The sole purpose of Google.cn is now linking to Google Hong Kong, which does not very much from simply redirect it. Although this technically is consistent with Chinese law by not automatically redirect users to Google in Hong Kong, government officials considered likely that fulfills the same purpose. Should have more news soon, as Google’s license must be renewed on 30 June, but it seems that for the first time, the ball is on the roof of the Chinese government.

iPhone 4 Reviews shows up
Considering that all major networks here in the UK are carrying the iPhone 4 and it's also being sold unlocked at the Apple Store, I'm sure that the lines won't be as long as it is in the US but if you're still in the fence about getting this latest mobile phone from Apple until early reviews shows up, well, start contemplating because Engadget has released their review of the iPhone 4.
Well, as expected, it's all praises for the Jesus phone, they even went as far as saying as its the best smartphone in the market today. Although I'm not usually an iPhone fan, seeing the iPhone 4 features, I actually have to agree with them. In the past, I've hesitant about jumping into the iPhone bandwagon because mainly of the hardware. However, with improved features such as multitasking, thousand of apps, 5 megapixel camera, and 720p video recording, among others, the iPhone 4 has definitely improved in terms of hardware.
The only question now is who will release the iPhone killer? Or with the iPhone 4 features, would it be possible to have an iPhone killer nowadays? I guess we'll have to wait for the Windows Phone 7 to see if the iPhone 4 will stay at the top of the smartphone market.
